TERRAM Geosynthetics provides the critical properties for geosynthetics used in landfill engineering; Robustness to withstand installation and service life. Puncture resistance to protect the liner from puncture. Extensibility to adapt to point loads without failing. Chemical resistance for sustained contact with leachate. UV resistance for the period before the product is covered by waste.

Basal applications for TERRAM geosynthetics
The area at the base of a landfill cell is arguably the most critical in the design. It is the area subjected to the greatest surcharge loading, it is where hazardous leachate collects, and it is the deepest transition point between the landfill cell and the surrounding strata. It is the most challenging location to rectify if there is a failure.

In order to evaluate and value engineer the best solution for the basal area of the cell we have dedicated access to an independent, UKAS-accredited laboratory where the effectiveness of different geosynthetic solutions used in conjunction with the available drainage media can be ascertained for a given project, be that one or more stone types, crushed glass or used-tyre bales.

Fiberweb Geosynthetics solutions are able to form an integral part of the required solution in this key area of the landfill cell. Whether it’s a geotextile or a geocomposite, our robust solutions are specifically designed to relate as closely as possible to the key properties of adjacent materials (such as the elongation of the geomembrane).
